About Dream Run

Dream Run began, fittingly, with a Dream. In 2017, forty-six-year-old amateur runner Matt Fitzgerald fulfilled a lifelong dream of living and training like a professional runner.

For an entire summer, he shadowed the HOKA Northern Arizona Elite team in the running mecca of Flagstaff, Arizona, doing everything they did, from high-altitude training to physiotherapy. Culminating in a 2:39:27 marathon in Chicago—his first PB at the distance in nine years—the experience transformed Matt’s running and left him with beautiful memories and new friends.

Five years later, Matt fulfilled another dream: to create a year-round retreat for adult runners in Flagstaff, where athletes like you, with their own dreams, can come to pursue them just as Matt did.

We received our first Dream Runner in May 2023, and we’ve hosted and held dozens more since then. In the process, we’ve expanded from one house to three, added more coaches, and leveled up the Dream Run Camp experience in many ways, from hot tubs and cold plunges to twice-weekly group strength workouts.

In May 2024, we started Dream Run Club, our online coaching service, which combines professional 1:1 coaching with a supportive team environment. Mostly recently, we launched Dream Run Creative, the engine behind all the cool videos and other content you see from us.

What will the future bring? Whatever you want! We like to say that Dream Run isn’t mine, it’s ours—a shared dream. Help us shape it.

FOUNDER & HEAD COACH

  • Matt Fitzgerald

Author of over 30 books on running & endurance

Matt started running on April 19, 1983, one day after watching his father complete the Boston Marathon. This began a lifelong love affair with the sport. Having completed 50 marathons of his own, authored more than 30 books, cofounded the world’s largest online provider of endurance training resources, and coached dozens of his fellow runners to their goals, Matt lives by the motto, “Let your passion, not your ability, decide how far you go.” That’s why he created Dream Run Camp–to enable runners of all abilities who share his passion for the sport to see just how far they can go.
